Light a Candle
Jamie Hayes passed away at his home in New Orleans, LA on June 18, 2018. Jamie was born in Greencastle, Indiana on May 16,1951 to James and Margit Hayes. His mother was from Sweden and he was always very proud of his Swedish ancestry. Jamie`s family moved extensively while he was growing up and he attended grade school in Graz, Austria. Jamie always had an artistic talent and made a career engraving scrimshaw in the 70`s and 80`s while he traveled the world with his best friend Mike. After Mike died Jamie began drawing whimsical characters as a form of therapy. For 20 years Jamie had a gallery in the French Quarter of New Orleans and was best known for his Mardi Gras posters and cat drawings. Jamie was also a musician and songwriter, music was his first love. Jamie was preceded in death by his parents and brother George. Jamie is survived by his son Julian, his sister Ambie, and Julian`s mother Pam.
